Hell Let Loose: Vietnam Commander Guide
The Commander coordinates Squad Leaders, spawn infrastructure, map information, resources and mobility. Complete the required tutorial before taking the role.
Finish the Commander tutorial, establish a reliable spawn network and use the tactical map to turn Squad Leader reports into team priorities. This page intentionally omits ability costs and cooldowns that are not verified in the supplied formal-release sources.
Complete the role tutorial first
The official launch information says the Commander tutorial is mandatory before the role can be selected. Do not treat that gate as a box to rush through. It introduces the responsibility and mechanics that affect the entire team.
If you are still learning basic capture rules, voice channels or map movement, begin with the beginner guide and mode comparison. A Commander needs to understand what the current mode allows before assigning movement.
Turn reports into a simple plan
The role exists to organize the Squad Leaders, not to give every player a private instruction. Use Leadership communication to collect short reports: objective, enemy direction, missing supply, weak spawn coverage and available movement. Convert those reports into a small number of priorities the team can remember.
Repeat the critical marker or defense call after the tactical situation changes. Avoid filling the channel with constant commentary, because Squad Leaders also need to hear their Units.
Build and protect the spawn network
Dexerto's role summary says the Commander uses the Field Pad to construct structures and M3 Binoculars for marking, while coordinating squads, spawns and resources. The community Commander video emphasizes a deep garrison network and assigning defensive responsibility.
Treat that network advice as a player strategy, not an official rule. The reliable principle is that a team with only one useful spawn has a fragile route back into the fight. Use Squad Leader information to identify where a lost point would also collapse deployment options.
Read the tactical map continuously
The tactical map combines objectives, friendly movement, markers and the current shape of the spawn network. Check whether Units are stacking on the same approach, leaving a defensive gap or moving toward a point that is not active in the current mode.
Map markers work best when paired with a short spoken instruction. A marker without context can be ignored; a long instruction without a marker is hard to locate.
Coordinate US mobility
The American-side community guide highlights supply helicopters, transport helicopters and patrol boats. Ask whether a flight is moving troops, delivering supply or supporting a new spawn route before assigning it. A transport and a supply aircraft solve different immediate problems.
The video is useful for identifying coordination questions, but this page does not copy unverified flight tactics as fixed rules. Helicopter controls and detailed flight parameters require their own formal-release testing.
Keep ability numbers out until verified
Commander abilities can change with patches, and the collected official sources do not provide a complete release table of names, costs and cooldowns. The page therefore does not publish those numbers. Check them in the current game interface before making a decision during a match.
This omission is deliberate. A shorter accurate guide is more useful than a complete-looking table assembled from beta footage or an older build.
