PC storefronts can play together

The official answer explicitly includes different storefronts, so a Steam player is not limited to Steam-only PC sessions. Microsoft Store and Epic Games Store PC users are part of the same stated crossplay support.

If a group cannot find the same server, first compare game version, filters and server availability. Do not assume the storefront alone blocks the group when the FAQ says storefront crossplay is supported.

What the server letters meant in testing

During the crossplay playtest, the official notes described server suffixes: X for Xbox only, P for PS5 only and C for Xbox + PS5 Console Crossplay. Servers without those suffixes supported full PC, Xbox and PS5 crossplay.

That labelling comes from the test period. It is useful background for interpreting server categories, but the current release browser should be checked before treating the same letters as guaranteed final UI behavior.

Crossplay is not the same as cross-progression

Crossplay answers who can join the same multiplayer environment. Cross-progression answers whether unlocks and saves follow an account between platforms. The collected FAQ confirms crossplay but does not establish universal save transfer among PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.

The Xbox product page lists Play Anywhere for its supported Xbox ecosystem. Do not expand that platform feature into a promise that PlayStation progress transfers to Xbox or PC.

If friends still cannot join

Confirm every player is on the current build, remove restrictive browser filters and compare the exact server name. If the list is empty or an entry fills before joining, use the server browser guide rather than diagnosing a crossplay failure from a capacity symptom.
